Messiah College offers a flexible Graduate Program in Education designed to fit the schedule of busy teachers. Our program includes a variety of M.Ed. degree tracks and nondegree options in high-demand fields. Most of our graduate-level education courses are online, and all are PDE approved for Act 48 credit.
M.Ed. options
Graduate students can earn an M.Ed. with a focus on curriculum and instruction; special education; teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESLOL); teaching language and content; and online instruction. In collaboration with Asbury Theological Seminary, Messiah College also offers degree tracks in Christian education and intercultural studies. The timeframe for completing the program ranges from two to six years.
Nondegree options
The Graduate Program in Education offers graduate students nondegree PDE endorsements / certifications and graduate certificates. Areas of focus include autism spectrum disorders, TESOL, online instruction, special education and English as a second language. Some certificates can be completed in less than a year.
Why Messiah?
Messiah College is a nationally ranked college that effectively integrates quality academics and Christian faith. The integration of faith and learning—particularly as it relates to issues of justice, reconciliation and the dignity of all people—is evident in our program. Our faculty are experienced educators and accomplished scholars who will encourage and mentor students in their faith and their career.
Our programs are designed to develop effective educators; but more than that, we focus on preparing leaders and collaborators who are ready to work with students, their families and other educational professionals.
The majority of courses are conducted online, so students are free to pursue their career and degree at the same time. Graduate program applicants are accepted year-round, and there are program entry points throughout the year.
