A highly individualized classroom model may be designed collaboratively with the district upon request. These classroom placements are designed to provide a highly structured and supervised environment for students with uniquely challenging behavioral, safety or educational needs that prevent them from participating in a typical school setting or a larger classroom environment. There is intense focus on developing effective positive behavior support and crisis plans that allow the adults to provide clear, consistent structure and reinforcement systems so the student learns more independent, appropriate behavioral reactions. The CAIU team is proactive in supporting the district in IEP development and planning for transitioning to a less restrictive and more typical environment as soon as safely possible.
