Title IX Notification

 "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal assistance."

-Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 to the Civil Rights Act of 1964

The Capital Area Intermediate Unit affirms that no person shall, on the basis of sex, disability, race, color, age, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, veteran’s status, or genetic information be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in any educational program or activity. In addition, no person shall, on any of these bases, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in employment, or recruitment, or consideration, or selection, therefore, whether full-time or part-time, under any educational program or activity operated by the Intermediate Unit.

DESIGNATED TITLE IX COORDINATOR

In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendment Act of 1972, the CAIU has a designated Title IX Coordinator. The CAIU’s Title IX Coordinators should be contacted regarding any inquiries as to the application of Title IX or filing a harassment complaint.

Submitting a Complaint

To submit a complaint you may:

  • Contact any CAIU staff person (verbal or written)
  • Contact any CAIU Supervisor (verbal or written)
  • Contact any Title IX Core Team member (below)
  • Contact the Title IX Coordinator  (below & may route your complaint to the appropriate administrator)

In addition to contacting the Title IX Coordinator, all students and parents may report allegations of harassment to the applicable building principal or administrator. Additionally, all CAIU staff, being mandated reporters, may field a complaint at any time, and submit to their supervisor. Reporting by staff to any required child abuse agency or law enforcement agency, as directed by state law, is to be done in addition to reporting complaints to building and supervisory staff.
